Create Playlist On Youtube

Script:I wanted to share a handy Google Script which I came across initially inThe script automatically adds videos to a specified YouTube playlist. You need to have new video email notifications turned on for the channel subscriptions you want to add to the playlist first. The script will search gmail for new video notifications, add them to a specified playlist, then log this action in a Google Drive sheet (can turn this off if you don't want it).I've tweaked the original slightly and added a little bit of commenting to try to make the script a bit clearer. It took me a couple of hours of googling and tweaking to understand how it worked and to get it working properly for me. But it works great now and it will save me significant time in future. This should be useful for people given the number of requests I've seen while searching for a solution to this problem. And many thanks to for the original script.Couple of notes on use.First take a copy and save in your Google Drive.Create an error logging Sheet and an activity logging Sheet if you want to log these activities then add their sheet IDs to the script in the right places. Or remove/comment-out that part of the code if you don't want this. From the menu bar at the top of the interface, run the script 'AddAddNewVideosToWatchLaterTrigger', this will add a trigger to run the main script to add vids to the playlist every 15 min. From the top menu bar, select 'Resources' - 'Advanced Google Services' and make sure that the YouTube Data API is enabled. Then click on the link in this box for the 'Google Developers Console' and make sure the Youtube Data API is enabled here too.You can manually run the script from the menu bar too to test it.If you have different requirements for which channel subscriptions you want added, e.g.

You don't want all notification emails processed, you only want the excellent videos from the channels of , (, etc.), or , you can tweak the search criteria in line 23 to only return those results you want to work with.P.S. Totally don't apologise for the name dropping since they are truly excellent channels and more people need to be watching them!Hope this helps. If you've any questions just ask but, while I have some coding and dev background, I'm no expert and can only do my best to help.Edt: Completely forgot to add the link to the script itself!. Really glad to help.

Funny that a couple of people who have tried to follow the instructions couldn't get it to work. I wonder if there's anything I need to make clearer? Maybe the bit about enabling the YT data API?I find this script invaluable actually.

I've got a couple of versions running at the moment to filter new videos into different playlists based on the search criteria in the script.I probably need to cull my YT subscription list, since I found out how to do this I watch far too much YT:)Also, as an extra tip, you can set up a filter in Gmail to auto archive (just don't mark the email 'read') the YT notification emails so that you don't keep getting phone messages telling you about unread email. The script will still find those emails and add them to the playlist. Your instructions were very clear.

I was talking about the ones from the original author of the script (the old thread). And about the data API i think these two screenshots will do the trick just fine (, ). 3rd try i managed to activate it in Google Developers Console.

Was a bit blind.I use it for my music subscriptions. It's gotten to a point where i can't even listen to all of them, and every day i was adding new videos to the playlist. Now i know i don't need to worry about it and just keep the playlist open and listen.

Might set up another one for the non-music videosYep i already have plenty of filters in my gmail and the videos go nicely in a folder.Cheers!. Brilliant mate. Those are some excellent additions. I'm on holiday at the moment but I'll have a closer look next week when I'm home.I'm no Google script expert (have other scripting background though) so it's great to see other people's work and learn from it.I don't think YT Red is available in UK yet unfortunately but I'm looking forward to it for the offline features. At the moment I use Tube mate to download my playlist but it's a bit awkward since you have to manually remove downloaded items from the playlist after download. Your functionality for removing older items will come in handy. I can probably script the downloads automatically using AutoInput then have the script remove anything over a day old.

Looking forward to playing with it.I like the site too. Some good photos there!. It looks like you maybe haven't done the whole authorisation process. From the top menu bar, select 'Resources' - 'Advanced Google Services' and make sure that the YouTube Data API is enabled. Then click on the link in this box for the 'Google Developers Console' and make sure the Youtube Data API is enabled here too.You have to enable the API and ALSO click the link at the bottom of that dialogue to get to the developers console and enable the API there too.

Hopefully that will work.If my instructions aren't clear you could try the instructions at the original post - they might be clearer and my instructions might just be rubbish:). I followed these initially and got it working. Let me know if you get it sorted.
